Five steps.
Five kinds
of excellence.

Our people

One team. Nine kinds of talent.

  • A chess grandmaster
  • A former ATP professional
  • Artists
  • A former BCG partner
  • An organisational psychologist
  • Coaches
  • Industry experts
  • AI experts
  • Young consultants

The Shift draws on human skills as much as analytical ones: doubt, timing, persuasion, resilience and performance. So we built a team that doesn’t look like a traditional consulting firm, on purpose. Each member excels in their field; what matters even more is their humility, their curiosity and their mindset of service.

No single profile could run The Shift alone. The artist sees what others miss, the grandmaster reads the timing, the former partner builds the case, the psychologist unlocks conflict, the athlete drives performance. Every engagement brings together the people who will still be in the room when it is delivered.

A new deal

Fresh eyes and deep experience, at every step.

Consulting has long measured its juniors by utilisation and retired its seniors once their cost outgrew what a client would pay. Both ends of a career lose that way, and so does the client. We built our firm on the opposite principle, because The Shift needs both fresh eyes and deep experience in the same room.

Juniors are no longer numbers. They learn through real one-to-one apprenticeship, and they bring the fresh perspective and energy that every step of The Shift relies on.

Seniors spend meaningful time with clients, mentoring juniors and bringing the judgement that turns analysis into a clear recommendation.

The “elusive partner” who appears only in a proposal deck becomes real again, from Really? to Perform.

There’s no pressure to be billable: only pressure to learn, grow and think differently.

Our purpose

Change fails for human reasons. So we invest in people.

Change fails for human reasons more often than technical ones: 70% of transformations miss their goals, and most failed programmes name resistance or management behaviour as the main barrier. That is why we put people, not frameworks, at the centre of our work.

In a world where AI threatens to replace junior talent before it has had the chance to grow, our purpose runs the other way. We let AI take the repetitive tasks, and we protect, develop and elevate the next generation, measuring them by curiosity, craft and impact, never by billable hours.

  1. 01Creativity.
  2. 02Curiosity and constant learning.
  3. 03Connectivity and collaboration.
  4. 04Discipline and the craft of thinking.
  5. 05Impact, not presence.

The margin our model creates funds that development directly: time, mentorship and exposure no algorithm can replace. That is the business we are building: one that makes people more capable, not more replaceable.

Some of the team

Our consultants don’t wait their turn.

Our consultants work alongside a grandmaster, a former ATP professional, artists and seasoned partners, and they are trusted with real client conversations from the start. That is deliberate. Careers in this industry have long been built on waiting. We would rather ask sooner, coach properly, and let capability grow at the pace of the person rather than the pace of the hierarchy.

“AI did not remove the reason to hire people starting out. It removed the excuse for wasting their first three years.”

“Technology gave us back the hours we used to spend proving we had done the work. Now we spend them thinking.”

“A recommendation should be uncomfortable to read and obvious in hindsight. Anything less was a summary.”

“We used to be paid for the answer. Now the answer takes seconds, and we are paid for knowing which question was worth asking.”

“Nobody remembers the deck. They remember whether the thing we promised actually happened.”

“Experience did not teach us more moves. It taught us how quickly to admit the ones that are not working.”
